I was born, raised and mainly educated in Long Beach, California. I graduated from Wilson High School, Long Beach City College and California State University with a BA in Psychology. Post-graduate work was done at the University of California, Berkeley.

My Dad convinced me to enter federal civil service after I expressed my dissatisfaction with the private sector. I worked for the U.S. Navy, Air Force and, ultimately, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I worked in software development for the DoD and as a Systems Specialist for the FAA. I retired from civil service after 33 years.

I’ve been married to my wife, Peggy, for almost 47 years. We have a daughter who lives in Valley Glen, CA (a suburb of Van Nuys) with our granddaughter and son-in-law. We try to visit them once a month, weather permitting. Our five year old granddaughter is at an age of constant motion, endless questions and astute observations. She’s a hoot!

Peggy and I attended Christ Reformed Church in Anaheim, CA for 11 years prior to moving to Nevada. This church is part of the United Reformed Churches of North America (URCNA) and at its core are the Dutch, German and French Reformations. The doctrine of their Three Forms of Unity are linked closely with the Scottish/English Westminster Standards. During our time at Christ Reformed I was the “sound guy” for four years and a Deacon for three years. Also, I served on the Board of Directors
for the Artesia Christian Home for three years. This nursing facility provides permanent care for elderly Christians and those that are under hospice care. Recently, they’ve begun providing for rehabilitative care for all patients; this was a decision based upon Covid-19 economic pressures and California policies. They have cared for Christians for almost 70 years.

I enjoy participating in a recently acquired interest in Brazilian Jujitsu. It’s a sport where one accumulates bruises but, at the same time, also conditions the body and mind. I also have a life-long interest in electronics (I enjoy designing circuitry). Finally, Peggy and I enjoy walking our dog, Gus, around our new neighborhood and greeting our neighbors with a wave and a “hello” and receiving the same from them. We’re becoming true Nevadans…Go Wolf Pack!
