God’s providence means that He sovereignly preserves and governs all creation, using even suffering, disaster, and human sin to accomplish His wise and good purposes. Therefore, Christians can look back with gratitude and face the future with hope, trusting the Father whose gracious hand rules every circumstance for their eternal good.
The table of showbread in the tabernacle symbolized God’s intimate presence and provision for His people, representing the covenant of fellowship between God and Israel. Through Jesus Christ, this communion is fulfilled and expanded, inviting us into unbroken relationship with our perfect Heavenly Father who is always with us, offering love, mercy, and life.
The second commandment tells us that no image can capture the infinite God. God is spirit and cannot be contained by gold, stone, or human imagination. Attempts to depict Him reduce the living God to a lifeless thing and mislead the heart. True worship is offered in spirit and truth so that we worship God as he is, not as our images of him make him to be.
